65 DIVISION CELEBRATED CHRISTMAS CAROL

As per the direction of General Officer Commanding 65 Division Major General Sarath Weeravardhana RSP USP GI, and under the supervision of Brigadier Ranjith Abesinghe RSP USP Commander 651 Brigade, troops held the annual Christmas Carol at Iranamathanagar Catholic Church on 29 December 2017.

Brigadier Ranjith Abesinghe RSP USP Commander 651 Brigade attended graced the evening as the chief guest. Over 1000 Catholic devotees participated for this eve and the event was conducted as per the guidance of Chief cleric of the Iranamathanagar Catholic church Rev Fr Aruth Chelvem with the assistance of Christian Clergies in the area.

Troops of 651 Brigade and 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment provided their fullest support for the success of the event by way of supplying electricity, sound systems and many other decorations etc. Adding festive atmosphere to the occasion, the Christmas Carols sung in Sinhala, Tamil and English language as a symbol of peace and harmony. Together with several choirs including the Choir of Kumara Church – Chillaw, most celebrated melodies sung as praise and appreciation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Those children who were part of the Carol’s were gifted with sweets and Toys donated by 65 Division. Others were served with a snack during the evening.

Chief cleric of the Iranamathanagar Catholic church Rev Fr Aruth Chelvem, Christian Clergies, Officer Incharge of Mulankavil Police station – Inspector of Police Rukmal Rathnayake, Senior Officers, Officers and a large crowd of catholic devotees together with civilians around the area witnessed the event.
